Recent Hosting Issues Resolved

This was due to some updates that Dreamhost had performed.
The issues were not allowing us to run certain scripts that run at a predetermined time increment. These scripts make sure that everyone’s joke counts are accurate, each individual joke’s vote counts are accurate and they also update the overall ratings for each joke. So over the last week and a half our joke counts and ratings may not have been completely 100% accurate.
We are located on the “Homie Cluster” on Dreamhost’s servers. The issues all started last Monday night when we suffered a mySQL outage during which we were down for almost an hour exactly. More on this issue on Dreamhost’s Status Blog.
The issues then continued when they began moving the mySQL machines over. I don’t believe that the site was down more than 10 minutes for this move. More information can be found here.
The issues continued more with networking issues at 8am November 13th, and 11am November 13th.
This morning, we yet again experienced issues.
We are experiencing packet loss on multiple machine. As a result, this is causing a lag when attempting to access your site. Our admins are currently working towards resolving the issue.
However Dreamhost is claiming that they have finally fixed the issue.
The swtich to our core router was oversaturated. Our administration team has added 2GB to the switch. We will continue to monitor the network.
While our patience has grown thin with Dreamhost, we have had much good experiences with them in the past. We hope that they keep these issues from re-arising, so that you can get your “That’s what she said” joke fix from the BEST that’s what she said joke site on the Internet.
